Before serving as president and CEO of the Collège des médecins du Québec from 1998 to 2010, Dr. Yves Lamontagne was a professor at the Université de Montréal Faculty of Medicine and president of the Association des médecins psychiatres du Québec. He is the founder of the Fernand-Seguin Research Centre and founding Chair of the Mental Illness Foundation. As special advisor for health, he puts his expertise and network to the service of the institutions, companies and associations involved in this sector.

Over the years, he pursued simultaneous careers in research, education, communication and administration. His published writings include more than 200 scientific articles, 37 books and 30 chapters in other works. Dr. Lamontagne’s work has earned him numerous awards and decorations of honour in both Canada and the United states. He is a member of the Order of Canada and the Ordre national du Québec. In October 2003, the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal named him Great Montrealer of the year in the social sector.
