Are you enthusiastic about public affairs and looking to put your skills to work to deliver complex projects for a diverse client base? Octane Strategies is seeking a bilingual advisor to work with its English-speaking clients in particular.

Job description

Meticulous and self-reliant, you provide public relations advice and services to our clients, as well as taking part in our research and development initiatives. You draw on your good judgment and expertise to design and implement strategies and action plans in line with client objectives. You feel strongly about producing high-quality work, you can work on projects as part of a team or take the lead, you respect timelines and budgets, and you have a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

Based on your areas of specialization, you report to the project lead and deliver public relations, government relations/lobbying or engagement and social acceptability services, including, but not limited to:

  • Strategies, recommendations and advice for our clients
  • Various documents such as press releases, information sheets or web content
  • Content and presentations in line with our deliverables
  • Editorial, development and content management policies
  • Diverse research and analysis activities
  • Coordination, tracking and quality control of the projects under your responsibility
  • Drawing up and monitoring budgets and timelines

Contributing to the firm’s evolution and research and development projects

Skills and qualities

  • University degree in communications, public relations or other relevant field
  • At least three years of experience in a similar job at an agency or in a specialized public affairs or institutional/corporate communications team
  • Excellent verbal and written English required,
  • Ability to communicate fluently in French required
  • Excellent writing skills, ability to summarize and simplify information, and familiarity with the standards specifically applicable to communications tools
  • Ability to offer credible and feasible advice, with an eye to offering deliverables of excellent quality, in both substance and form
  • An attentive ear and ability to influence others
  • Time management skills to work on several projects simultaneously and deliver on time
  • Solid knowledge of standard tools such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and web and social media content management platforms
  • Familiarity with other tools like WordPress, InDesign and Prezi is an asset
